LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville nonprofit celebrated six years of helping homeless women and children with a cookout on Friday.
United Partners for Women and Children, also known as "UP," provides a day shelter and support services.
The organization opened its doors in 2018. It helps connect women and children with access to showers, laundry, mail addressing and getting important documents.
UP has helped almost 5,000 people since it began. Leaders said they helped end homelessness for more than 100 women and children this year.
"Every year we serve more people, we identify more needs, we expand our needs," a spokesperson said. "Just in the past program year we've served more than 2,000 unique women and children"
UP will hold its annual fundraiser this September.
