LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — After nearly a decade without a neighborhood pool, families in Louisville's Camp Taylor community are diving back in.

City leaders officially opened the new Camp Taylor Waterpark on Tuesday at Camp Taylor Park, replacing the longtime Camp Taylor Pool that had been closed for nearly a decade.

The $6.2 million project includes an interactive children's splash area with slides and a giant dump bucket, along with lap lanes and a climbing wall. The facility is also ADA accessible.

"Just think of the parents and grandparents who learned to swim at the old Camp Taylor pool when they were kids, who now watch their little ones do the same in this amazing waterpark that we have," Mayor Craig Greenberg said.

The waterpark will operate daily from noon to 5 p.m., except Thursdays.

Admission costs $3 for adults and children 13 and older, while children 12 and under can enter for $2.

Additional upgrades at Camp Taylor Park include a full-size basketball court, expanded walking paths, outdoor fitness stations and repaved parking areas.
