LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Louisville's police force just won a National Safety and Wellness Award.
The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund is honoring Louisville Metro Police Department with the Comprehensive Safety award.
The award was given as part of this year's Destination Zero National Officer Safety and Wellness Awards.
LMPD was recognized for its specialized Exposure Response Team that quickly responses when officers are exposed to bodily fluids. The force also has a respiratory protection program that prevents officers from breathing in dangerous contaminants with air purifying respirators.
