LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg has appointed Wesley Sydnor, P.E., as the city’s next executive director of Public Works.

Sydnor brings more than 25 years of engineering and infrastructure experience, including nearly two decades with the Louisville Metropolitan Sewer District.

At MSD, he worked on EPA compliance, stormwater quality efforts, green infrastructure projects and long-term planning. City officials said he also built strong relationships with community members and state and federal partners.

Sydnor said he is eager to join the department and lead the team responsible for improving safety, managing projects and supporting neighborhoods.

“It’s a tremendous honor,” he said in a news release. “Our work has a direct impact on quality of life, and I’m ready to build on the progress already underway.”

Sydnor will begin the role Dec. 8.
