LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Two long-vacant West End properties that sat empty for decades are set to be redeveloped into affordable housing, city leaders announced Tuesday.

Mayor Craig Greenberg said the Wilson Avenue sites will be transformed into a four-unit building, adding new affordable apartments to the neighborhood as part of the city’s ongoing housing efforts.

The properties are part of Louisville’s Landbank Program, which offers vacant city-owned land to qualified developers for as little as $1 to encourage redevelopment.

Developer Joseph Scott will lead the project. He said the work is especially meaningful, noting he grew up in the neighborhood in the 1960s and has lasting ties to the community.

City officials said the project reflects continued efforts to reduce vacant property and increase affordable housing options across Louisville.
