LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — After spending the first 492 days of his life at Norton Children’s Hospital, Tamarion Paul is finally getting the chance to go home.
Tamarion was born with a rare and complex heart defect that required ongoing care from doctors and medical staff.
After months of waiting, Tamarion received a lifesaving heart transplant in April. Following his recovery, he was able to leave the hospital Wednesday and begin a new chapter at home with his family.
His family says they are looking forward to the moments they have missed most, especially seeing Tamarion grow closer with his siblings outside the hospital.
"I'm running out of here. I'm doing cartwheels out of here," said Keira Porter, Tamarion's mom. "It's been a long time coming. He has other siblings, and they're limited to the times we brought them up here, so they know him, they know they have a brother, but I'm ready for them to see their relationship with their brother at home."
One of the first things his family plans to do is take family photos, creating memories they couldn’t wait to make at home.
