LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Department of Corrections has installed a tribute to its officers lost to suicide in honor of Law Enforcement Suicide Awareness Day.
Thursday afternoon, the department formally unveiled a wall honoring the service of the officers it has lost.Â
LMDC brought in mental health providers for the current officers, staff and families on hand.
Corrections Chief Jerry Collins said the point of the event is to let prospective and current officers know there's nothing wrong with getting help when you need it.
"Everyone who's been in this career for any amount of time, and let folks get healthy," Collins said Thursday.
If you or anyone you know is struggling with thoughts of suicide, the national helpline number is 988.
