LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Residents in Floyd and Harrison counties in southern Indiana will have another road project on State Road 111 to maneuver around.
On or after Monday, April 27, State Road 111 between Corydon Pike and Scott Street will be closed to traffic so Norfolk Southern Railroad can make track repairs, according to a release from Indiana Department of Transportation.
The closure is expected to last five days, weather permitting.
Drivers should follow the detour using Interstate 64, State Road 62, State Road 11 and State Road 211 — before reconnecting with State Road 111.
This will be the second road project on State Road 111 just this month.
A $1.3 million bridge reconstruction project started on State Road 111 April 6 over Middle Creek just before Budd Road. The project cut the road down to just one lane with a temporary traffic signal. It is expected to be completed in late July.
These road projects come as the Derby season approaches in Kentuckiana. This is one of the peak times for Caesars Southern Indiana, which is located on State Road 111 down from the closure area.
The closure is sure to impact traffic to and from the casino.
