LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A motorcyclist is in critical condition after a crash in Louisville's Russell neighborhood Friday afternoon.
Officers were called to a reported crash and "structure struck" at 18th and West Muhammad Ali Boulevard around 12:30 p.m., according to Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Aaron Ellis.
After speaking with witnesses, police believe a passenger truck and a motorcycle were headed west on Muhammad Ali Boulevard. Police said the truck was in the righthand lane and attempted to turn left onto 18th Street at the intersection when he hit the motorcyclist, who was in the left lane.
The motorcyclist was ejected, and the motorcycle continued "for a short distance" before hitting and damaging the front door of a nearby business.
Police said the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet, and was taken to University Hospital in critical condition with injuries police said are life-threatening. No additional information about the motorcyclist was provided.
The man driving the truck and his passenger were not injured, and neither was anyone inside the business that was hit by the motorcycle, Ellis said.
LMPD's Traffic Unit is handling the investigation.
