LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Waterfront Botanical Gardens has officially opened its new Learning Garden.
Officials said on Friday that it will serve as a hands-on educational space for the park's Sprouts Summer Campers and the community. Children and adults can use the garden both learn about plants, ecology and sustainable gardening practices.
Waterfront Botanical Gardens president and CEO Philip Koester said it features a permanent tent, interactive elements, and planting areas. "It's a wonderful outdoor classroom where kids can get their hands dirty, learn about nature - not be stuck inside on an iPad."
Admission to the Waterfront Botanical Gardens off Frankfort Avenue near River Road is free. It's open Wednesday through Sunday.
The WBG is a nonprofit in Louisville that focuses on educational programs and community events aimed at promoting environmental awareness and sustainable practices. For information, visit WaterfrontGardens.org.
