LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Part of the Gene Snyder Freeway is closed near Fairdale due to a mudslide.
The mudslide was reported around 3:30 a.m. in the right eastbound lane near the National Turnpike exit, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
Metro Emergency Services said the mud covered the emergency lane, but KYTC crews needed two lanes to clean up.
Crews have been working throughout the morning to clear the mud and debris from the highway. KYTC said an estimated time of reopening is not available at this time.
MetroSafe initially reported the runoff was caused by an uprooted tree.
Metro Emergency Services want to encourage people to sign up for LENS Alerts, as there could be more emergency alerts with the upcoming rain throughout the weekend.
