LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The trial for the mother accused of killing her son and leaving his body in a suitcase was postponed until next year.
Dejuane Anderson's murder trial was originally scheduled for October 2025 but it's been moved to Jan. 6, 2025.
A mushroom hunter found 5-year-old Cairo Jordan's body stuffed in the suitcase in rural Washington County, Indiana, in 2022.
This undated image provided by Indiana State Police shows the suitcase that contained the body a 5-year-old boy found in rural Washington County, Ind., on April 16, 2022.
After two years on the run, Anderson was arrested on March 15, 2024, in California. During a subsequent court appearance, she claimed her name was "Princess" and the U.S. Space Force was following her.
"I am Princess Khalifia Hatan, representing the entity Dejaune Anderson," she said during a court appearance in April 2024.
Anderson was committed to a psychiatric facility in August 2024 and eventually found fit to stand trial.
Another woman charged in Cairo's murder — Dawn Coleman, of Shreveport, Louisiana — pleaded guilty to aiding, inducing or causing murder, neglect of a dependent resulting in death, and obstruction of justice. She was sentenced to 30 years in prison, with five years suspended to probation.
