LOUISVILLE, KY (WDRB) -- Two former lovers charged with killing a man and burying his body in the basement will be in court Wednesday morning. Their trials are scheduled to take place in a matter of months.

Jeffrey Mundt and Joseph Banis each blame the other for the murder of Jamie Carroll.

Carroll's body was discovered decomposing in a sealed plastic container and then buried in the basement of Mundt's Old Louisville home on Fourth Street in June of 2010.

But police believe Carroll was killed months earlier and that perhaps no one would have ever learned of the killing had it not been for a domestic dispute between the two men on June 17, 2010.

The following quote is taken from a 911 call, part of the newly released evidence in the case:

Dispatcher: "What's your name?

Caller: Jeffrey Mundt.

Dispatcher: Who is attacking your door?

Caller: Joey Banis.

Dispatcher: This an ex-boyfriend.

Caller: He's in my house... I am not safe. He's in the house trying to break down the door to the bedroom. Stay on the phone with me. Second floor. Please."

The 911 tapes are part of newly released evidence in the case. After Banis' arrest for that domestic dispute, he told police about the body in the basement – blaming Mundt for the killing.

Mundt says he watched Banis slit Carroll's throat and then shoot him while the three were engaged in drug use, watching pornography and having sex.

Detectives say that's when Carroll was stabbed and then shot.

Banis' trial is set for May. Mundt has been scheduled to go to trial in September.
