LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An off-duty Louisville Metro Police officer died Wednesday evening after suffering a medical emergency.

Officer Mark Kordis was escorted by ambulance to Baptist East in St. Matthews.

LMPD said Kordis joined the department in 1991, retired, and then was re-hired in 2017. He was mostly recently assigned to the department's Fifth Division.

The department is asking the community to pray for Kordis' family, and the current members of LMPD.

No further details were provided.
