LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Officials have identified the motorcyclist who was killed in a crash in downtown Louisville Tuesday.

According to Sgt. Matt Sanders, a spokesperson for the Louisville Metro Police Department, officers were called to I-64 West near the Ninth Street exit just after 3 p.m. on multiple reports of a motorcycle crash.

After speaking with witnesses, police believe three motorcyclists were "traveling at an extremely dangerous high rate of speed" when one of the drivers lost control of his bike.

Sanders said the driver hit the concrete barrier just above Ninth Street and was ejected, falling 30 feet onto a parking lot off Washington Street near the Frazier History Museum.

The motorcyclist, identified Thursday as 23-year-old Cody Cunningham, was pronounced dead at the scene

Sanders said the motorcycle continued another 250 feet along the road after the driver was ejected before coming to a rest. The other two motorcyclists stayed at the scene and are working with LMPD's Traffic Unit, which is leading the investigation.
