LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An on-duty LMPD police officer was taken to the hospital after a crash Friday morning.
LMPD spokesman Aaron Ellis said the crash happened around 3:19 a.m. at the intersection of Second and West Market streets. The officer was in a marked LMPD cruiser with their lights and sirens on.
The officer was helping another officer with a report of a break-in in progress when he was hit by another passenger vehicle as he entered the intersection.
Ellis said both vehicles were damaged, along with a utility pole.
EMS tendered to both victims and they were both taken to University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. They were both alert and conscious.
LMPD's First Division is investigating.
