LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- DJ Reynolds, the chief of the Pioneer Village Police Department, was found dead Tuesday afternoon at his home in Shepherdsville.
The Shepherdsville Police Department said it was notified about the medical run to the home around 2:15pm. Deputy Coroner Terry Rose said Reynolds was pronounced dead at 3 p.m. Tuesday.Â
A death investigation is underway, and the medical examiner's office is expected to conduct an autopsy Wednesday.
Back in 2017, Reynolds was accused of rape but was never charged. He said he was innocent, claiming it was the result of a break-up. In an interview with Kentucky State Police, Reynolds said he had consensual sex with the woman and that she made up the allegations out of anger when the relationship ended and he refused to give her money.
Reynolds has been the police chief for several years in Pioneer Village. The city said there is no assistant chief and there are six officers. There is no word on who will become the interim chief.
