LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The murder of a man at the Kentucky Derby remains unsolved three years later.

Police say 48-year-old backside worker Adan Perez was murdered the night of Derby 2012 (May 5, 2012). His body was found the next day in a barn #8 in the early morning hours of May 6, 2012. Perez did not work in that barn, and it's not clear how he got there.

At the time, Perez was working for trainer Cecil Borel, brother of jockey Calvin Borel.

Although no arrests have been made in the murder, police say they are following strong leads.

Churchill Downs officials and employees are holding out hope that the killer will be found.

"There would be nothing more positive than closing the case and finding a suspect and seeing that person come to justice," said Churchill Downs' John Asher.
