LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Radio icon Casey Kasem has passed away, according to a social media post that was made by his daughter.

The Associated Press also confirmed the news.

Kasem was 82-years-old and had been suffering from Parkinson's Disease.

Prior to Kasem's death, his wife Jean had been involved in a dispute with his children over who would oversee Kasem's well-being.

Kasem was well-known as the host of the radio program "American Top 40" and also for his voiceover work, including the character of Shaggy in the cartoon series "Scooby Doo."
