LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A group gathered at Waterfront Park asking for a cease-fire to bombing in Gaza.
Members of Louisville Ceasefire Coalition met at the Big Four Bridge to sing, fly kites, paint rocks, share food and listen to music. They also held a die out to represent those who died in attacks.
The group demanded an end to U.S. funding of the attacks on Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon. For those who attended, they said it impacts not just those overseas but everyone.
"People from all walks of life, the students from Students for Justice for Palestine are also here, the anti-war veterans are here, the Buddhists are here, all of us want a cease-fire and an end to this bloodshed," said Lina Yassine, a rally organizer.
Hamasā attack in which some 1,200 people were killed and 250 kidnapped shattered Israelisā sense of security and stability in their homeland.
Nearly 100 hostages remain in Gaza, with less than 70 believed to be alive. Israelis have experienced attacks āĀ missiles fromĀ Iran andĀ Hezbollah,Ā explosive drones from Yemen,Ā fatal shootingsĀ and stabbings ā as the region braces for further escalation.
Israel isĀ accused of committingĀ war crimes and genocide in Gaza and becomesĀ increasingly isolatedĀ internationally. The Health Ministry there put the Palestinian death toll at more than 41,000.Ā
More than 60,000 from Israelās northern border with Lebanon are displaced.
