LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The final leg of the Louisville Triple Crown of running kicks off Saturday morning, and there are some road closures to be aware of.
The final leg of the series, which leads up to the Kentucky Derby Festival Marathon and miniMarathon, is a 15K. The first two races are a 5K and a 10K.
Road closures start in downtown Louisville as early as 3 a.m. Saturday, when East Witherspoon Street, from North 2nd Street to North Preston Street, closes until noon.
The following closures will be in effect from 7 a.m. until about 10:30 a.m., according to Louisville Metro Police:
- Bingham Way from River Road to East Witherspoon Street
- River Road from Bingham Way to 3rd Street
- River Road from Bingham Way to North 7th Street
- North 7th Street from River Road to West Main Street
- West Main Street from North 7th Street to North 6th Street
- North 6th Street from River Road to West Main Street
- North 1st Street from East Witherspoon Street to East Washington Street
- East Washington Street from North 1st Street to North Preston Street
- North Brook Street from East Witherspoon Street to East Washington Street
- North Floyd Street from East Witherspoon Street to East Washington Street
- North Preston Street from East Witherspoon Street to East Washington Street
- East Witherspoon Street from North Preston Street to Adams Street
- East Witherspoon Street from Adams Street to River Road
- River Road from North Preston Street to Indian Hills Trail
Roads are expected to be open by noon or earlier. LMPD said a detailed map with the closures will be available on the WAZE app.
The race starts Saturday at 7:30 a.m. on the South Great Lawn of Waterfront Park, 212 East Witherspoon Street.
