LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Sacred Heart Schools kicked off its Season of Giving today with holiday music performed by a choir.

Students at the school have collected about 10,000 food items that will be donated to Kentucky Harvest and Dare to Care.

Students also created about 5,000 Christmas cards to give to the American Red Cross. The project is part of the school's Holiday Mail for Heroes program.

Dr. Cynthia Crabtree, Sacred Heart President, explains, "We created five thousand cards to send to the military across the country and the world so that they have a little special note showing their appreciation for all that they do for us."

The school's Christmas tree was also lit today as part of the school's holiday festivities.
