LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Several people were rescued when their apartment building caught fire early Sunday in southern Indiana. 

It happened around 9:15 a.m. Sunday at the Clark Arms apartments at 117 W. Main St., according to a post on  the Jeffersonville Fire Department's Facebook page

Firefighters responded to reports of smoke coming from one of the units. Responding crews fought through heavy smoke and found the unit on fire on the fifth floor of the building, according to the post. 

The flames were quickly extinguished as other crews helped residents evacuate the building. Several residents were evaluated by EMS on scene and released.

Crews brought the fire under control in 22 minutes. 

The cause of the fire was not immediately determined.
