LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The Louisville Fire Department is investigating the cause of a house fire early Monday that displaced three people in Shively.

Crews responded to the 2100 block of Appleton Lane just before 2 a.m. on a reported structure fire, according to Donovan Sims, a spokesperson for the LFD. That's off Dixie Highway, not far from Seventh Street Road.

Once on scene, the first crews to arrive found an active fire burning through the roof of the home, Sims said.

It took 28 firefighters to extinguish the fire in the attic and bedroom areas of the home.

Sims said there were five engines, two trucks and a battalion chief at the scene. The fire was under control by 2:15 a.m.

No injuries were reported. Two adults and a child were displaced.

The cause of the fire remains unknown.
