LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A southern Indiana fire and rescue department has a new boat for rescue operations.

Tri-Township Fire & Rescue put a new rescue boat into service on Saturday. It was purchased from the Duke Energy Foundation through Clark County Emergency Management.

"We appreciate their continued support which gives our firefighters the tools and training needed to keep our community safe," Tri-Township Fire & Rescue posted on Facebook.

Duke Energy has given first responders more than $200,000 in grants for emergency preparedness in Indiana.

"When severe weather strikes, we rely on strong partnerships with local emergency management and law enforcement agencies to effectively respond and restore power in affected communities," Stan Pinegar, president of Duke Energy Indiana, said in a news release. "These grants will help give first responders the tools and training they need to respond to any emergency."
