LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Speed Art Museum celebrated the grand opening of its new outdoor addition Wednesday.

The Art Park is a 3-acre green space that showcases the power of art in the open air. There are contemporary sculptures, native plantings and more than 150 new trees in the area.

A refection and relaxation area can be found within the park, and there are several events planned for the future.

Officials said the park is truly for everyone to experience.

"For nearly 100 years, the Speed Art Museum has been a haven for the art in Louisville," Kentucky First Lady Britainy Beshear said as the park was unveiled Wednesday. "There is something really special about the intersection of nature and the art. The way it can invoke and heighten our senses."

The Art Park is free to enjoy every day of the year from dawn to dusk. For more information, click here.
