LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A section of a busy stretch of road in southern Indiana reopened Wednesday after railroad repairs.

State Road 111 in New Albany, a main route to Caesars Southern Indiana, shut down between Corydon Pike and Scott Street last week for crews to replace railroad tracks along the corridor.Ā

The project, coordinated by the Indiana Department of Transportation and Norfolk Southern Railroad, raised concerns about traffic delays going into Kentucky Derby week with events at the casino.

The roadway reopened Wednesday. However,Ā a nearby bridge over Middle Creek, just before Budd Road along State Road 111, isĀ under construction, causing some congestion on the way to the casino.

The $1.3 million bridge reconstruction project has traffic down to just one lane, with temporary traffic signals in place during construction. The project is expected to be finished in late July.
