LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A south Louisville hospital is celebrating 150 years of service to the community.

UofL Health marked the 150th anniversary of Mary & Elizabeth Hospital on Tuesday.

The hospital was originally founded by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth in 1874 after the Civil War.

A century and-a-half later, the hospital now offers a full range of services, including emergency and specialty care.

"Nothing great can be built without a great foundation, and for the sisters, they have given us the most wonderful foundation, they've given us the most wonderful legacy upon which to build," Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jeff Graves said.

To mark the milestone anniversary, the hospital unveiled a historical timeline feature that allows guests and community members to dive into the hospital's history. It's available to look at online by clicking here. Also on the webpage, the community is invited to share their stories about the hospital and its impact on their lives.
