LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A new outpatient clinic will be built in southern Indiana to give veterans better access to healthcare.
The Department of Veterans Affairs announced the lease signing on Tuesday. The new clinic in New Albany will give nearly 96,000 veterans more convenient and timely access to VA care.Â
The state-of-the-art facility will provide primary care, mental health care and specialty care for veterans.
Officials said the clinic will support the Robley Rex VA Medical Center in Louisville.
"Our mission is to provide world-class health care to our nation's heroes," said Phillip Christy, chief acquisition officer and principal executive director for the Office of Acquisition, Logistics and Construction, in a news release. "When a veteran comes to VA, we must be able to give them the care they deserve, when and where they need it, and this new lease is a critical investment in meeting that mission."
It's unclear at this time where the clinic will be built, but construction is expected to be finished by fall 2028. It's set to start taking patients beginning in the spring of 2029.
