LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - LMPD homicide detectives had their hands full Saturday with two unrelated homicide investigations and no arrests.

Officers were called to a shooting in the Park Hill neighborhood at 3:41 p.m. on Saturday. They found Cory Crowe, 24n shot in the driver's seat of a car, and he was pronounced dead on the scene at 4:08 p.m., the coroner confirmed.

"They're looking around in the vehicle for evidence and to see if maybe there was more than one gunshot, if maybe it didn't hit the victim and try and gather and collect evidence at this point," LMPD Public Information Officer Carey Klain said.

The shooting happened near South 25th Street and Standard Avenue.

Klain says the victim was in his 20s. "We did receive a call just about the shots fired and we also received a call that a black male was seen running from the area," she said.

A K-9 unit was called in to help search for a suspect. Detectives also went door-to-door, interviewing people that live in the area.

While this was happening, another investigation was unfolding in the Shelby Park neighborhood.

At 3:54 p.m., police were called to a home on East Ormsby Avenue for a stabbing.

"I was at a neighbor's house and another neighbor informed me that the police were at the house where I manage," said one woman, who did not want to be identified, but says she knows the victim.

"We got along like brother and sister, and I used to get him in line when he'd get out of line," she said. "But we were always okay with each other."

The coroner confirmed the victim as Timmy Stephens, 51. He died of multiple stab wounds at University Hospital at 4:45 p.m.

MetroSafe says Stephens was stabbed in the neck.

Authorities are now asking for tips on both incidents.

"With all of these investigations, they're very fluid," Klain said.

Anyone with information about the shooting or stabbing is asked to call 574-LMPD.
