LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The visitation and funeral for Rondale Moore, who died last weekend, is scheduled for next week.
Moore, a former Louisville-area football star and NFL wide receiver, died at the age of 25 in southern Indiana.
According to the Floyd County Coroner's Office, emergency services on Saturday, Feb. 21, responded to the 1600 block of Ekin Avenue in New Albany, Indiana, at 5:27 p.m.
Moore was found in a garage at that address and then taken to Baptist Health Floyd, where he was pronounced dead just after 6 p.m.
Moore played at New Albany High School for two years before transferring across the river to Trinity High School for the remainder of his prep career. He then starred at Purdue University for current University of Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm. Moore won the Paul Hornung Award as the nation's most versatile player.
Moore was drafted in the second round by the Arizona Cardinals in 2021, and spent last season on the injured reserve list with the Minnesota Vikings after suffering another injury in a long line of injuries that plagued him throughout his career.
Jeff Brohm, who recruited Moore out of Trinity and coached him at Purdue, called Moore “a complete joy to coach.”
"Rondale had a work ethic unmatched by anyone," Brohm wrote. "A great teammate that would come through in any situation. We all loved Rondale, we loved his smile and competitive edge that always wanted to please everyone he came in contact with."
A visitation will held on Thursday, March 5, at Northside Christian Church from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The funeral service at Northside is scheduled for the next day at 11 a.m.
