LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Hundreds showed their gratitude by donating their time to feed people in need this Thanksgiving.

With three full meals served at Wayside Christian Mission for the holiday, it took days of prep-work leading up to the tradition.

Organizers and volunteers were up early to start breakfast served at Hotel Louisville on Broadway in downtown Louisville.

It was followed by a Thanksgiving lunch and dinner complete with all the fixings.

Organizers including Wayside's Nina Moseley said they serve more than 3,000 meals on holidays.

"We try to make Thanksgiving and Christmas for our folks. We want them to get that family feeling like they're at grandma's house, and so these are the only two days of the year where people don't have to stand in line to get their meal," Moseley said.

The charity has served meals on Thanksgiving day for more than a decade. Coordinators said this tradition would not have been possible without the volunteers' help.

Wayside is already accepting volunteers and donations for Christmas. They also need volunteers to sponsor families for Christmas. If you'd like to help, click here for information
