LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police seized drugs and guns from a home in Newburg earlier this week.

On Sunday, LMPD said in a Facebook post detectives served a search warrant Friday, Sept. 26, in the 5000 block of Yew Lane, off Shasta Trail.

The search turned up two unlawful guns and one pound of pure fentanyl — enough to kill about 225,000 people or about 36% of Jefferson County residents, police said. The police also found 5.26 ounces of high-purity cocaine and 8 ounces of marijuana.

LMPD said the operation took dangerous drugs off the streets and "significantly disrupted a dangerous drug network, improving the safety and quality of life for residents in the area."

LMPD said the case remains under investigation with assistance from federal agencies.
