Louisville Mayor says resignation speeds up termination process of officer who shot unarmed man
Louisville's Police Chief made the decision to fire Officer Nathan Stotts last week after he shot and killed 27-year-old Martin Nitzken Jr.

LMPD said the resignation ensures "that Mr. Stotts is immediately and permanently separated from LMPD. His personnel record will reflect that he resigned while in the process of being terminated."
