LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The iconic actor behind Captain Kirk -- William Shatner -- will be in Lexington for his biopic's Kentucky premiere.

"You Can Call Me Bill" is described as an intimate portrait of Shatner's personal journey through his nine decades of life.

The screening at the Kentucky Theatre on Friday, Oct. 4, is titled: "A Kentucky Evening with William Shatner."

A Kentucky evening with William Shatner Friday, October 4th.

The screening will feature a red carpet before the film, followed by a question and answer session with Shatner and the film's director, Alexandre O. Philippe. There's also meet-and-greet opportunities and a VIP afterparty.

"The evening just goes on as a celebration," Shatner said.

Shatner said in an interview with WDRB News the film is meant for his family.

"I thought of it as an opportunity to leave something for my children on a personal basis, rather than, you know, watch whatever show I was on. This is more -- this is me talking to my family, to which you become apprised," Shatner said.

Shatner also shared that while Los Angeles is home base, he has long had a home in Lexington.

Funnily enough, he has never seen the film and isn't sure he will watch it, even in Kentucky.

"It's all about ideas and concepts and over the years, things I've thought of or written about," Shatner said.  The film is great. You'll make up your own mind about me."
