LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A woman died Monday after a head-on crash Sunday night in southwest Louisville.

Aaron Ellis, a spokesperson for Louisville Metro Police, said officers responded to a crash just before 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of West Orell Road and Lower River Road.

According to police, a man was driving east on Lower River Road and swerved to avoid a vehicle pulling out from a nearby driveway. Police said he then crashed head-on into another car with two women inside.

A woman who was a passenger in the vehicle he crashed into was taken to UofL Hospital in critical condition and later died Monday.

The man sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and the driver of the other vehicle was not injured.

The victim had not been identified as of Monday afternoon.
