LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 17-year-old boy was shot and killed Wednesday night in south Louisville, the Jefferson County Coroner's Office said Thursday.
Martez Wade died of multiple gunshot wounds just after 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Overlook Terraces apartment complex in the 8000 block of Glimmer Way.
Inside, residents like Michael Griffin heard the fatal gunshots.
"My son said he saw somebody's legs laying on the floor across the hallway to the apartment," Griffin said.
Brian Tucker, Martez's uncle, thinks some kind of fight started online that led to Wednesday night's violence.
"A whole lot of it come off of that social media, Tucker said. "They all got it on the phones."
But exactly what led someone to kill Martez is still unclear. The murder is even more alarming to nearby residents since it happened just a few doors down from a murder at the same apartment complex back in February. Police say the two homicides are not related.
With no suspects and few leads, detectives need help from the public as they search for leads.Â
"Even if it's the tinniest bit of information, we could certainly be appreciative of that, because at this point, we want to give some closure to the case and find the person or persons responsible for this," said Louisville Metro Police spokesman Dwight Mitchell.
Anyone with information is asked to call 502-574-LMPD (574-5673). Callers can remain anonymous.
