The National Education Association, citing data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, says there were 567,000 fewer teachers in classrooms nationwide in early 2022 compared to numbers before the COVID-19 pandemic.
The emergency regulation will be in effect 270 days, and the board will consider rescinding it 24 hours after changes in recommendations from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or the Kentucky Department for Public Health on universal masking.
