It now makes up for 27% of COVID cases in the U.S and, so far, has not caused an increase in hospitalizations.

Every county is still in the green for COVID-19 rates.

This comes as the state's positivity rate also hit a record at 27.39% as of Wednesday. 

Gov. Andy Beshear is encouraging vaccinations and boosters, saying that will help hospitals from being overwhelmed during the surge. 

The state's positivity rate, which measures the proportion of COVID-19 tests returning positive, decreased to 2.8% Friday. Kentucky's positivity rate is below 3% for sixth straight day.
