David Yates won the primary race for Jefferson County clerk, defeating Rosalind "Roz" Welch in Tuesday’s election.
The Senate seat was recently vacated by David Yates, who was appointed by Mayor Craig Greenberg to fill the role following longtime clerk Bobbie Holsclaw's death in September.
Greenberg appointed Yates over Roz Welch, who is also campaigning for the job and already works in the clerk's office.
David Yates, who is currently a Kentucky State Senator, announced his candidacy for the seat today.
