Indiana State Police posts around the state teamed up with trucking companies to highlight the dangers of distracted and aggressive driving. 

Other new laws include tougher penalties on stores for selling smoking or vaping products to anyone younger than 21 years, and a requirement that anyone younger than 18 obtain a judge’s permission before getting married.

The box truck driver, Evan M. Barnett, has been arrested on manslaughter charges because police believe he had taken drugs before the accident.

“Many preventable crashes result from unsafe driving behavior such as speeding, distracted driving and following too close,” KSP Sgt. Jason Morris said.

Kentucky would be one of several states, including Georgia and Tennessee, to adopt a "hands-free" driving law if lawmakers pass House Bill 255.
