Video captured the elephants circling their young during the earthquake on Monday.
The zoo is phasing out its elephant exhibit and adding koalas.
A necropsy will be performed and any additional information from the results will be released later.
The zoo will also celebrate the 18th birthday of Gremlin, the California sea lion.
Zoo officials want everyone to join in on Fitz's special day during a Facebook live at 11 a.m. Sunday.
The zoo also plans to launch a “behind-the-scenes sloth experience” that will allow visitors to meet and greet with one of the two Linneaus’s two-toed sloths.
An average weight for a newborn elephant is 200 to 300 pounds, so Fitz is progressing nicely since being born in August.
The Louisville Zoo said that its calf, Fitz, was sired by Jackson, a 40-year-old African bull elephant at the Pittsburgh Zoo.
You can see the baby and Mikki between 10 a.m. and noon most days at the Louisville Zoo.
The calf has been enjoying many naps, which is expected of newborns.
