Carroll's family said he passed away just before 5 a.m. Sunday at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.

Two women died in a crash on Interstate 71 in Gallatin County on Saturday, according to Kentucky State Police.

There will also be $4.9 million in funding going to McCreary County. 

Emergency officials had said the highway was “impassable.”

The speedway allowed the seniors to cross the finish line of their hometown racetrack.
