A woman accused of killing her son and leaving his body in a suitcase in rural southern Indiana appeared in court in Louisville for the first time Monday.
Dejuane Anderson's case was dismissed in Washington County earlier this week and her trial was moved to Louisville.
Washington County Prosecutor Tara Coats Hunt said the venue change "ensures the strongest legal foundation and prevents any future appellate ruling from overturning a conviction due to a technicality."
Police said a man in his 20s had been shot to death.
The shooting happened on July 31, 2019 in the 2300 block of West Oak Street near the Park Hill and California neighborhoods.
In September 2022, Racheal Flannery was caught on video squeezing, shaking, hitting, and eventually dropping a baby on the floor.
All of the men were found with stolen cars and guns.
Trevor W. Branham, 33, of Jeffersonville, was charged on four counts of wanton endangerment and one count of operating on a suspended license. A grand jury returned a “no true bill” on the felony wanton endangerment charges on Thursday.
The 42-year-old was indicted on Tuesday and later arrested at his Oldham County home.
Jamara Cureton, 30, was charged in a home invasion in Valley Station that left an 82-year-old woman hospitalized with severe head injuries.
