Nequell Beason, 19, was arrested Tuesday.
“As you fell, you tried to catch yourself and accidently discharged your firearm striking two of the juveniles,” Police Chief Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel said in a memo to Kaiser on Jan. 25. “Your actions were unsafe.”
Police have said Officer Brendan Kaiser accidently fired a shot that hit two teenagers after officers were told several juveniles had illegally entered a garage on a vacant property in what was believed to be a stolen car.
On Monday, Thaddius Thomas and Travon Curry were sentenced to 19 years in prison and 19 years in prison, respectively, for robbing and killing Jason Spencer.
The shooting happened just after noon Monday on Osage Avenue near 18th Street.
One of the victims was pronounced dead at the hospital, LMPD said. The other was in stable condition as of 11:30 p.m.
Jefferson Mall will soon be enforcing a new rule that requires anyone under the age of 18 to be accompanied by a parent or guardian on Friday and Saturday nights.
