On July 25th at around 4 p.m., the housing complex was also without power for almost 24 hours. Power was restored on July 26.

The outage appeared to stem partly from a software update issued by CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity company that detects and block hacking threats.

So far, no reason has been given for the outages.

Crews will repair badly damaged cross arms on some power poles during the outage.

LG&E and KU are asking customers to help it conserve energy as the extreme cold puts pressure on the regional power grid.

As of 4:30 p.m. Friday, an estimated 1,013 customers were without power in Kentucky.

Google has not given an estimated timeframe for when the issue may be resolved.
