The crash happened just before 2 a.m. on Bluegrass Avenue, according to a news release from Louisville Metro Police Department Spokeswoman Alicia Smiley.

Louisville Metro Police Department said the shooting occurred at about 8:45 p.m. in the 3,700 block of Manslick Road, near March Boulevard.

U of L President Neeli Bendapudi said in an email Thursday that the institution is lowering its loan request from the state to $35 million, from the previous $50 million.

The shooting victim was able to drive himself to the hospital, according to police.

A man fled the scene with no apparent gunshot wounds.

Authorities are still trying to determine where the shooting happened.
