Nearly 90,000 notices will be mailed to homes and businesses that are affected in Prairie Village, Fairdale, Okolona, West Buechel, and the Iroquois neighborhood.

The LMPD Homicide Unit is investigating.

James Sherrard resigned as West Buechel's police chief in May after he was suspended for misconduct.

"It is with deep regret that I will be resigning my position as the Chief of Police for the City of West Buechel," James Sherrard wrote in the letter, dated May 7.

Darrell Browning reportedly started shooting and police returned fire.

Authorities say the incident started when officers in Saint Matthews tried to stop the man after the license plate of the car he was driving on Old Shelbyville Road came back as stolen. 

Some worry the parking enforcement is simply a revenue generator for West Buechel.
