Bryce Elder tackle

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Bryce Elder claimed the Best Play of Week 5 of the high school football season.

The Bullitt East defensive back caught a Cortez Stone at the end of the second quarter to keep Central off the board, protecting a 6-0 lead going into halftime.

"If they score and kick an extra-point, they're winning going into halftime, it's just a completely different game," Elder said. "I knew I had to kick it into extra gear I know I have to keep that momentum on our side."

The Chargers won the game 13-0 to improve to 4-1. Elder's tackle helped the Chargers to their second consecutive shutout.

"A lot of football fans knew that was a big deal in that close of a game," Bullitt East coach Keegan Kendrick said. "It was a big effort play, it was absolutely make-or-break play, probably was the play of the game."

Elder has 16.5 tackles and an interception this season. Elder had 43 tackles and three interceptions last season as Bullitt East won the Class 6-A state championship.

Bullitt East travels to North Hardin this week.
