LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Former University of Louisville assistant basketball coach Kevin Keatts shocked the world by directing North Carolina State to the Final Four earlier this month.
If Keatts makes a return trip in 2025, he'll have help from two former Louisville players
On Tuesday, Joe Tipton of ON3 Sports reported that U of L guard Mike James will transfer from the Cardinals to the Wolfpack. James will be re-united with his teammate Brandon Huntley-Hatfield, who committed to N.C. State last month.
A 6-foot-5-inch wing, James had a high game of 26 points when the Cardinals defeated Miami (Florida) in January. He scored 20 or more three other times last season.
James finished his third season with the Cards by averaging 12 points and 5 rebounds for Kenny Payne's 8-24 squad. James signed with Chris Mack in 2021 out of Oak Ridge High School in Orlando, Florida.
He missed his first season with a torn achilles' tendon and then averaged 10.1 points as a freshman. He'll report to Raleigh with two seasons of eligibility.
James is the sixth former Cardinal to settle on a new school: Skyy Clark will play for UCLA, Tre White transferred to Illinois, J.J. Traynor picked DePaul and Curtis Williams is bound for Georgetown University in Washington.
Now James and Huntley-Hatfield head to N.C. State, which started five transfers during its surprising run to winning the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament and the South Regional.
